Many folks are starting to look for other forms of medications. Here, I'll list some of the most common herbs, oils, and other products to add to your holistic first-aid kit.
Arnica 30c
(I'll make a small commission if you buy from this link)

Arnica Arnica montana is known as an inflammation reducer. If taken immediately following an injury, it can reduce swelling and bruising. Tablets can also be taken if a stroke is suspected but can not replace emergency medical attention. Arnica 30c is available at most pharmacies or health food stores with homeopathic remedies.
Calendula and St. John's Wort Oil
Calendula officinalis oil and St. John's wort Hypericum perforatum are excellent additions to your kit. These oils can be purchased or you can infuse these oils at home yourself with some dried herbs, sweet almond oil (or an oil you prefer), and a double boiler. These oils can be applied to wounds to speed up healing. Calendula should not be used if infection is suspected as it can force the infection deeper by facilitating tissue growth, and the wound could close early.
Clove and Lavender Essential Oils

Got a toothache? Add 2-3 drops of clove oil to a cotton ball and hold on to the tooth, or the oil may be applied directly. Upset stomach? Drink 2-3 drops in 8 ounces of warm water to ease nausea and vomiting. Don't try this method for morning sickness; clove is a no-no during pregnancy.
I like to keep lavender close to the kitchen. A drop applied to a minor burn can speed healing. Always seek medical attention if the burn is more severe. A drop or two can also be used to insect stings. Lavandula angustifolia is the correct Latin name for lavender being referenced here and should not be confused with Lavandin or other varieties of lavender.
Rescue Remedy

Bach Rescue Remedy is a flower blend of impatiens, star of Bethlehem, cherry plum, rockrose, and clematis. It is helpful during times of high stress. This oil can also be applied topically to cuts, stings, and burns. Rescue Remedy can be purchased at www.nelsons.com.
Peppermint, Chamomile & Yarrow herbs

German Chamomile makes a lovely tea to enjoy as a night cap to calm nerves and promote restfull sleep. Diffuse 1 tsp of the herb in 1 cup of water and sip. Peppermint tea diffused in the same manor can ease an upset stomach. Yarrow infused oil is great when applied topically for rashes. The herb can also be applied in a poultice to help heal burns and minor wounds.
There are many more home remedies to list, but these are just a few basics to get you started. Come back for more posts later. I'll put together a tutorial on making your own calendula and St. John's wort oils.
